Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

WhatNext is built on a simple principle: your media history belongs to you. This policy explains — plainly — what data the app does and doesn't handle.

What we collect

Nothing. WhatNext does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on our servers. We have no servers. Everything you log — titles, ratings, lists, progress — lives exclusively on your device and in your personal iCloud account.

iCloud Sync

WhatNext uses Apple's CloudKit framework to sync your data across your own devices. This means your data is stored in your iCloud account, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We cannot access it, view it, or export it. Disabling iCloud in your device settings will keep all data local only.

Analytics & tracking

WhatNext contains no third-party analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services, no advertising frameworks, and no tracking of any kind.

Apple collects aggregate, anonymised App Store metrics (total downloads, crash rates, etc.) on our behalf through App Store Connect. We cannot identify individual users from this data, and it is controlled entirely by Apple under their own privacy framework.

Advertising

WhatNext is ad-free. There are no ads, no promoted content, and no monetisation that requires tracking your behaviour.

Data sources

The app's catalogue data (movie titles, TV shows, books, games) is sourced from public, open datasets:

None of these services receive information about you or your usage from WhatNext.

Children's privacy

WhatNext does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children. Since no data is collected at all, there is nothing to distinguish.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes in a meaningful way, the updated version will be posted here with a new date. We'd only expect changes if Apple's frameworks or App Store requirements change.
